Welcome at Lighthouse-Ermelo
Lighthouse-Ermelo stands as a beacon of hope for those navigating the darkest and most difficult times in their lives. As a registered community center, we are dedicated to serving individuals grappling with the complex challenges of substance abuse, homelessness, and sexual exploitation. Our mission is rooted in compassion and a deep desire to restore dignity and hope to those who have often lost it. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment, a true sanctuary where individuals can begin the arduous but essential journey toward healing and transformation. We understand that each person's story is unique, and therefore, we take a holistic approach, recognizing and addressing the multifaceted physical, emotional, and social needs of every individual who walks through our doors. This holistic approach means we don't just address the surface issues; we delve deeper to understand the root causes of vulnerability.
Our commitment extends beyond simply providing immediate relief; we are dedicated to offering long-term solutions that empower individuals to break free from cycles of vulnerability and build brighter futures for themselves. This involves a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers working in concert with a network of community partners to provide the resources, support, and programs necessary for lasting change. We offer a range of services, from counseling and therapy to life skills training and educational opportunities, all tailored to the specific needs of each individual. We understand that recovery and rebuilding are not linear processes, and we are committed to walking alongside those we serve every step of the way, providing unwavering support and encouragement. At Lighthouse-Ermelo, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their lives, and we are here to illuminate the way forward, fostering resilience and inspiring hope for a brighter tomorrow. We are more than just a community center; we are a family, a place where broken lives can find healing and where new beginnings are possible.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come."
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the kind cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness[a] will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings."
